Petland in North Olmsted is a leader in the area of animal care with a number of on-going community service programs. Part of Petland's community service outreach program involves children making visits to the Petland store for tours, hands-on interactions with various pets and the opportunity to learn about a pet’s four basic needs – maintenance, behavioral, nutritional and environmental. Petland also welcomes making visits with Petland pets to local school classrooms, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.
The staff at Petland in North Olmsted believes an appreciation for pets and their care should begin at a young age. Our Mission at Petland is to enhance people's knowledge and enjoyment of the human-animal bond. We are willing to work with all teachers and students, and have found our animal care presentations work particularly well with elementary students. Our Petland Pet Counselors are open to working in-store or classroom pet presentations around any curriculum needs.
Teachers interested in having a classroom pet should inquire as well. Petland will donate classroom-appropriate pets and proper pet habitats. Petland in North Olmsted also offers a "Teacher Discount Program," with 20 percent savings on the purchase of future classroom pets and pet supplies.
At Petland, we believe in the lifelong therapeutic benefits of pets. Studies have shown that pets are good for people, lowering stress and blood pressure in some cases. Pets also are an important source of touching, talking and intimate dialogue, especially for the elderly.
We realize many senior citizens have fond memories of the pets they had in more youthful days. We also realize that pets give unconditional love and are open to the caressing touch of a person’s hand.
