For more than 35 years, Petland store operators have been
working individually with local animal shelters and members
of the community to find homes for shelter pets and other
unwanted litters.
It has always been considered "the right thing to do"
by Petland franchisees, and historically few store operators
have sought publicity for their acts of community service
and goodwill.
For more than a dozen years, Petland has had an established
Adopt-A-PetSM program for its
franchisees worldwide. Under this program, some Petland store
operators work with local animal shelters to enable families
to adopt shelter pets at Petland. As part of this cooperative
program, Petland store operators make available some of their
highly visible kennel windows in shopping centers across the
country to help place homeless pets.
